A four star bed and breakfast at Wye in the heart of
Kent.
This is a small Bed and Breakfast enterprise offering high quality food and
facilities in a central but secluded part of Wye village, which is situated
between Ashford and Canterbury with easy access to Wye Downs. Parking is
available by arrangement.
The house was built in 1984 and is comfortable and well
appointed. It is largely surrounded by trees and, though relatively secluded,
is only about five minutes walk from the centre of the village.
Mistral already utilises solar power for hot
water. During 2008 the house will be fitted with photovoltaic panels to
generate electricity from the sun with the surplus being sold to the
National Grid. We will, too, shortly be fitting a water softener for
the entire household.
The garden is laid out to reflect the interests of the
owners of whom one is a botanist and the other a keen flower arranger. There
is a large collection of Alpine plants and a large collection of roses
representing many of the types available. Some 42 species of birds have been
recorded from the garden. The garden opens
to the public occasionally in aid of various charities.
We make every effort to meet the requirements of our
guests and in a small establishment such as this we can look after the needs
of the individuals. As far as possible, ingredients for breakfasts are
sourced from local enterprises.
In March 2008 Ashford Borough Council awarded us
a four star rating for food safety management.
We welcome all those who want to explore and enjoy east Kent and we are well able to provide guidance on features of local interest. We have available various local guide books.
There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and a hair dryer and ironing board are available on request.
